About UK Citizen Prep
UK Citizen Prep is a free study resource for the Life in the UK Test. It is written and maintained by Manmeet Ishan.
Who writes this site
I build study tools and learning resources. I started this one after looking at what was already available for the Life in the UK Test and finding the same gaps repeatedly: practice questions that tell you an answer is wrong without telling you why, audio locked behind a subscription, and almost nothing written for the moments people actually search for — turning up late, losing a certificate, failing and not knowing what happens next.
I am not an immigration solicitor or a registered adviser, and I do not present myself as one. What I can do is read the published rules carefully, explain them in plain English, show you where each fact came from, and keep the pages current.
How the material is researched
Every page on this site follows the same rules:
- Facts are sourced. Claims about fees, rules, timings and procedures link to the GOV.UK page they came from, so you can check them yourself rather than take my word for it.
- Everything is written from scratch. The study guide the test is based on is Crown copyright. I explain the same facts in my own words rather than reproducing its text.
- Pages carry a review date. Every page shows when it was last checked. Immigration fees and rules change, sometimes at short notice, and a page with no date on it is not telling you enough.
- Mistakes get corrected. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell me and I will fix it and update the review date.
What this site is not
It is not immigration advice, and it is not a substitute for it. I can explain what the published rules say and what the process involves. I cannot tell you what to do in your particular circumstances, and nobody who is not a qualified adviser should.
If your situation is complicated — a refusal, a fee waiver, an exemption on medical grounds, anything where the answer depends on facts specific to you — that is a conversation for a registered immigration adviser or a solicitor, not a website.
This site is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Home Office, GOV.UK, or the publisher of the study guide.
Corrections and contact
If you spot an error, or a page is out of date, please get in touch. Corrections are the fastest way this site gets better, and I would rather hear about a mistake than leave it up.
