The Life in the UK Test is 24 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes, and you must score 75% or moreto pass — 18 correct out of 24. It costs £50 per attempt, must be booked at least 3 days in advance, and is sat at one of over 30 test centres in the UK.

How many questions do you have to get right?

GOV.UK states you must score 75% or more to pass, which is 18 out of 24 (checked 23 August 2026). You can get 6 wrong and still pass. You are told the result on the day, at the centre. More on the pass mark.

What is the test actually about?

How do you book it?

What if you fail?

You can take it again. GOV.UK states you can rebook the test as many times as you need, and that you pay each time (checked 23 August 2026). No waiting period between attempts is published, so the earliest date is whatever the booking service offers. Do you have to take it at all?
